English Teaching and Learning calls for submissions to a special issue with the theme “Individual Differences in Second Language Learning: The Road Ahead”.

The last three decades have witnessed substantial growth in the research on individual differences of second language learning. Concepts such as motivation and language learning strategies have gone through several phases of development and reform. In light of the theoretical advances along these lines of research inquiry, we believe it is time to synthesize and report the latest advancement in the field of individual differences of second language learning. We welcome both quantitative and qualitative studies which focus on, but are not limited to, anxiety, language learning strategies, motivation, willingness to communicate, and personality. Studies on innovative applications of research methods are particularly welcome. This special issue aims to provide an up-to-date review and evaluation of contemporary individual differences research on second language education.
